Tuition, Fees, and Financial Aid
“Whoever touches the life of the child touches the most sensitive point of a whole which has roots in the most distant past and climbs toward the infinite future.”
Our tuition and fees vary according to grade level. All tuition agreements include a non-refundable deposit of $1,000, which is due upon enrollment each year.
Additional fees are charged for services and extracurricular activities that are offered outside of the standard school day. These include After-Hours care, Off-Day Camps, our farm-to-school catered lunch service, extracurricular activities, and summer programs. Charges for private educational support and private lessons are billed by and paid directly to the service provider, not to CDS.
Expenses related to field trips, school supplies, yearbooks, and cultural assemblies are normally covered through tuition.

Our Off-Day Camp program is available for conference days and faculty in-service days as well as occasional half-day dismissals during the academic year. Fees are $35 for half-day camp to $65 for full-day camp.
CDS allows families the flexibility to either pack lunch or purchase a hot lunch for any number of days a week. Our lunch provider is Byrne Catering. By offering week-by-week ordering and milk-only options, families have the flexibility to choose the meal plan that is best for them.
Tuition covers 85% of the total cost to educate each student; our Annual Fund helps make up the difference — and has a profound effect on our school. All members of the CDS community are asked to contribute to the Annual Fund, which is typical of most independent schools.
At CDS, admissions decisions are made independent of need, and financial aid is available to students in Preschool through Sixth Grade.
Our school uses the services of FACTS to assist in determining financial aid awards. FACTS is an independent vendor that assists more than 6,000 institutions in the United States with financial-needs assessments.
Step 1: Application for admission
Complete the online admissions application. Financial aid applications will only be considered when a complete and finalized admissions application has been submitted to CDS.
Step 2: FACTS application
Go to the FACTS website and follow the provided instructions to complete a financial aid application for CDS. In addition to completing the online financial aid application, the school asks parents to provide a complete copy of their prior year's federal income tax return along with any other information that they would like the Financial Aid Committee to consider in reviewing their request.
Step 3: Decision
Once CDS receives your completed application from FACTS, the school's Financial Aid Committee will meet to consider the application and make a final decision. You will receive written notice of your financial aid award once the decision is made.
