Fantasm Auction 

Fantasm is the annual dinner auction, organized and run by the Parents’ Club. An evening of dining, bidding, and buying raises significant money to help the school.

One of the highlights of the live auction is the Fund-A-Need. Guests raise their paddles to contribute to a capital or program need identified by the Head of School, which is supplied only through this special fundraising process. In past years, Fund-A-Need has provided funds for financial aid, the school security system, Smartboards, and a laptop cart.

Fantasm is a schoolwide community project. Every classroom creates a special and unique item, and many of the faculty members donate their time and talents for special one-of-a-kind experiences for students. Area businesses from the Chesterfield, MO and West County areas donate goods and services, and CDS parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends donate unique items, trips, parties, and experiences.

Parent Volunteers Now Being Recruited! Contact the Development Office and we'll sign you up!

Acquisitions: Call on businesses for donations. Collect items and return display items, as needed.

Sign Up Parties: Plan, organize, and host parties for students and parents for the month of April (examples--flower arranging with luncheon, day river float, gingerbread making parties, road rally, wine tasing for adults; kids trivia, kids basketball, kids cooking)

Best of CDS: organize a display table for all of the great items made and donated by CDS faculty, staff, and classrooms.

Business Sponsors: New this year! Call on our own CDS parents' businesses, and friends', for sponsorship underwriting and table purchases. All it takes is the ability to make phone calls!

Data Entry: Enjoy the comfort of the CDS parents' room while you help enter all of our donations into our auction database. This is an event where you can work a few hours a week up until the middle of February (and then pile on some time!)

Mailing: Stay after a Parents' Club meeting to help fold, stuff, and label solicitation letters and invitations.

Bank: Have fun seeing what everyone bought during the night of the auction.

Centerpieces: Creative on a budget? Help design and make, deliver and set up centerpieces for the night of the auction.

Baskets!: Help put items together in baskets. This fun morning usually takes place in the final week or two before the event.

Transport and Set Up: Minivans and SUV's unite! We need lots of cars to load up the items, take them to the event, set up the auction sheets, and get the place ready--hopefully on Friday before the event (if not, the morning of the event!)

Return and Clean Up Patrol: Stay a few moments after the last call and help gather up uncollected itsm, displays, flotsam and jetsam, and bring it all back to CDS.
