Save the Date for the 2013 Benefit Auction

The theme for 2013 is COME SAIL AWAY! Our co-chairs are Julie Mangan and Kelley Virgil.
The annual Benefit Auction is organized and run by CDS parents and volunteers with support from the Advancement office.
The Benefit Auction is a school-wide community project. Area businesses from the donate goods and services and CDS parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends donate unique items, trips, parties, and experiences. Room representatives for every classroom work with students to create a “class gift” which is auctioned off the night of the event. Many of the faculty members support the Auction by donating a special activity or one-of-a-kind experiences for students.
A silent auction and live auction are both incorporated into this event. One of the highlights of the live auction is the Fund-A-Need. Guests raise their paddles to contribute to a capital or program need identified by the Head of School, which is supplied through this special fundraising process. In past years, Fund-A-Need has helped the school upgrade our science and technology programs and provide SMART boards for classrooms.

volunteer opportunities for the Auction
We are always looking for additional volunteers. If you are interested in helping out with this important activity please let us know. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Acquisitions: Call on businesses for donations. Collect and set up displays for items.
Sign Up Parties: Plan, organize, and host parties for students and parents for the month of April (examples-- flower arranging with luncheon, day river float, gingerbread making parties, road rally, wine tasting for adults; kids trivia, kids basketball, kids cooking).
Business Sponsorships/Advertising: Call on businesses for sponsorship underwriting and table purchases.
Data Entry: Help enter all of our donations into our auction database throughout January and February. This is an event where you can work a few hours a week.
Decorations/Centerpieces: Help design, make, deliver and set up centerpieces and other decorations for the night of the auction.
Event Clean Up: Stay after the last call and help gather up uncollected items and displays.
