Admissions Process
Step 1:
Learn more about Chesterfield Day School by reviewing the website and contacting the Admissions Office for more information at 314-469-6622 or admissions@chesterfielddayschool.org.
Step 2:
Contact Chesterfield Day School to schedule a tour with the Director of Admissions and Head of School. The tour will let you experience CDS in person and give you a better understanding of our program and curriculum. To the best of your ability, we ask that you try to schedule a tour during the school day, as it is important to see normal classroom activity. However, we can also accommodate tours in the evening hours and during the summer months. Schedule a tour by emailing us at admissions@chesterfielddayschool.org.
Step 3:
Complete an online application and provide Chesterfield Day School with any other supplementary information regarding your student's education history. CDS requires records from previous schools and a teacher recommendation to complete the student application.
Step 4:
Upon submission of your application and receipt of all supplementary materials, Chesterfield Day School will contact you to set up a visit day for your student. The student visit allows CDS to get to know your student better and learn more about his/her skills and interests.
The length of the classroom visit depends on the age of the applicant:
Toddler Applicants-30 minute visit (with parents)
Preschool Applicants-1/2 day visit
Kindergarten-6th Grade Applicants-Full day visit
Step 5:
Acceptance. Once Chesterfield Day School has received a completed application including any supplementary materials needed and the potential student has finished his/her visit the CDS Admissions Committee will meet to make a final decision on acceptance. Families will receive notice of acceptance through phone and written documentation. In the event that a student applies and is accepted to a class that is already at capacity, the student will be placed on a waiting list and notified when space becomes available.
Step 6:
Enrollment. Once a student is accepted, the family will then receive an Enrollment Agreement and additional forms to complete. In order for a student to attend classes, the school must have received a signed Enrollment Agreement, tuition payment (amount based on payment schedule), and all enrollment forms must be complete. A student is not considered officially enrolled until a signed Enrollment Agreement is received by CDS, that Agreement is counter-signed by the Head of School, and it is returned to the family.
If your family is interested in applying for need-based financial aid the process begins once a completed application has been submitted to CDS. For more information about need-based financial aid visit the financial aid page.
