Amber Richards is the toddler teacher and has been with Chesterfield Day School for 10 years. Amber comes from a family of teachers and knew early in her life that she wanted to be involved with the growth and development of children. She received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies focusing on Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, and Sociology from the University of Missouri - Columbia. While pursuing her studies, she also worked at the on-campus childcare facility. It was during her summers in college that she first was introduced to Chesterfield Day School. As a nanny for a family whose children attended CDS, Amber began to learn about and see the benefits of a Montessori education. As a result, Amber entered the MOMTEP program after graduation. She was an intern at the former St. Albans campus, which led to various teaching positions, including Toddler, Preschool, and K-1 Cultural Studies. Concurrently, Amber achieved her Master's in Education. In 2006, she moved to the White Road Campus. In 2010, she completed her Montessori Infant / Toddler teacher certification through the MECA training center in Chicago. Amber is not only a teacher, but she is also a CDS parent. She and her husband Matt have three children at CDS.
